Xbox Series S/X Loses One of Its Few Exclusives to the PS5
In The Medium, players take on the role of a woman who can, as the game’s title suggests, travel in between the worlds of the living and the dead. The game has a unique mechanic where both worlds can overlap in real-time and the protagonist can exist in both worlds at certain parts of the game. This lets her solve puzzles in the real world and unlock a door in the spirit world, or vice versa. It’s an impressive mechanic that fits very well with the overall theme of The Medium, as well as the ending, which, as we’ve explained in an earlier article, can be difficult to wrap your head around.
With that said, The Medium was supposed to be one of the very few games out there that are available only on the Xbox Series S/X. However, according to Bloober Team and Sony, The Medium’s timed exclusivity will be ending on September 3, 2021 as it launches on the PlayStation 5. This confirms an earlier leak after The Medium received an ESRB rating for the PlayStation 5. In addition to a release date for the PlayStation 5 version of The Medium, Bloober Team also confirmed that The Medium will have full DualSense support on the PS5. Neither Bloober Team nor Sony revealed any specific information about this. At the moment, the Xbox Series S/X has very few console-exclusive games that are available to play right now. On the other hand, Sony has a bevy of those with plenty to spare. This includes the likes of Godfall, Returnal, Demon’s Souls, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, with more coming soon. However, it’s not all bad news. At E3 2021, Microsoft revealed that a lot of Xbox exclusive games are coming throughout the rest of 2021 and 2022. The best part? These games will be headed straight to the Xbox Game Pass at launch as well. Click here for a complete list of all the games, both Xbox exclusives and not, that are coming in 2021 and 2022.
