The tale of how Arthas, Prince of Lordaeron, was corrupted to become the Lich King was a huge part of the plot in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos way back in 2002. The lore was explored further during the launch of the second expansion for World of Warcraft which was Wrath of the Lich King in 2008. Arthas Menethil retells the tragic story of Arthas’ journey from heir to the throne to taking up the cursed runeblade, Frostmourne, in a bid to defeat the scourge. Unfortunately, the sword eventually corrupted Arthas and in his thirst for power, ascended the Frozen Throne. There he donned the Helm of Domination to become the Lich King. The new video is told from the viewpoint of the sorceress Jaina Proudmoore, who was with Arthas when he purged the city of Stratholme after it was overrun by the undead. Jaina was a childhood friend and former lover of Arthas. She left his side during the purge of Stratholme. Arthas Menethil is filled with stunning artwork befitting an epic tale. The narration by Jaina Proudmoore is masterfully done by Laura Bailey, who is an accomplished voice talent and has worked on several big games such as The Last of Us, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Players enjoy the Lore in Short video series from Blizzard. The videos provide a unique look to the lore of the massively multiplayer online game that has been running since 2005. It’s the videos like these that remind us of the rich story that Blizzard has created for the Warcraft franchise. Wrath of the Lich King is one of the most popular World of Warcraft expansions. It represents the glory days when WoW dominated the gaming industry. The Lich King himself is also a fan-favorite villain. To celebrate the release of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Blizzard has announced that all players who complete the Death Knight quest chain will receive the Frostbrood Proto-Wyrm in the retail version of the game. The new Proto-Wyrm mount will fit perfectly in the Dragonflight expansion that Blizzard will be releasing soon. Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be released on World of Warcraft Classic servers on September 26.
