After God of War: Ragnarok came out earlier this month to glowing reviews, and with a shot at winning GOTY, the future is looking pretty uncertain for the next big PS5 title. Make no mistake, Forspoken is coming out earlier next year and FF16 is scheduled to follow suit. But, the next first-party Sony title doesn’t have a release date and this is all about to change soon.
According to Tony Todd, the acclaimed horror actor voicing Venom in the Insomniac Games sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, “big creative news” is dropping tomorrow. The most interesting part is Todd actively fueling rumors by retweeting the initial Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer and liking tweets asking if this is related to the highly anticipated follow-up.
— Tony Todd (@TonyTodd54) November 28, 2022 For what it’s worth, more Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 news is long overdue. Earlier reports claim Sony and Insomniac are ready to reveal gameplay footage soon. This was in September and we’ve had at least one State of Play showcase since. Not to mention, Insomniac mentioned in October that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still on track to come out next year. Finally, it’s also believed Sony wanted to do a State of Play last month but declined to do it due to the still-ongoing CMA inquiry. Regardless of what the truth is, we won’t have to wait for too long to find out. We’re leaning towards an individual showcase to spotlight Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but, hey, more is always merrier. Speaking of merry, after Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales hit desktops last week, gamers are now looking forward to the PC release of The Last of Us Part 1.
