Only time will tell if Cyberpunk 2077 will fulfill its original potential, but one thing that’s guaranteed is that CDPR isn’t resting on its laurels just yet. According to the CDPR’s president, Adam Kicinski, the studio plans to release two massive updates for Cyberpunk 2077 in early 2022.
What are the two big upcoming updates for Cyberpunk 2077?
In a Rzeczpospolita interview (as spotted by VGC), Kicinski revealed that the two big updates coming to Cyberpunk 2077 are the next-gen version of the game and patch 1.5. We already know about the former. CDPR broke the news earlier this year that it will not be able to release the next-gen update for Cyberpunk 2077 in time, which is why it decided to delay it to 2022. What’s interesting here is the other big update, which Kicinski revealed is called Patch 1.5. At the moment, CDPR just released Patch 1.4. It wasn’t big, by any means. If anything, it simply continued what Patch 1.3 did - which is to make Cyberpunk 2077 less buggy. However, judging by how much fans are loving Cyberpunk 2077 right now, it certainly does look like CDPR has righted the ship to some degree. Hopefully, Cyberpunk 2077’s shortcomings haven’t discouraged CDPR from completely abandoning all of its initial plans for the game. After all, Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be their next big AAA franchise alongside The Witcher. If CDPR wants to establish a solid foundation, it will want to push through with its initial plans even though it might have to make several changes. Speaking of changes, do take the early 2022 release window with a grain of salt. CDPR hasn’t exactly been punctual with its updates for Cyberpunk 2077. The only silver lining here is that CDPR wants to kick off 2022 for Cyberpunk 2077 on the right note.
