Netflix is calling it curtains on the hit superhero TV series, which first aired in 2019. The fourth and final season will bring all of the major stars for what we’re hoping is an epic and fitting end to one of the platform’s biggest hits. Showrunner, Steve Blackman, expressed his excitement that Netflix has officially renewed The Umbrella Academy for its next season. In a statement, Blackman explained that the next season will have an “amazing story” that he believes will “have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.” Blackman is returning as the showrunner and executive producer for the final season of The Umbrella Academy. Meanwhile, the original creators, Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, are also in tow as co-executive producers with Jesse McKeown serving as a co-showrunner. While seeing The Umbrella Academy draw to a close, Blackman will continue his partnership with Netflix. In the same press release, Netflix confirmed that it will work with Blackman and Irish Cowboy Productions, his newly established company, for two more exciting projects. The first one is a Netflix-exclusive series based on the first-party PlayStation series, Horizon. Meanwhile, the other is a TV drama set on the International Space Station, Orbital. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any info on when The Umbrella Academy Season 4 is arriving. We are hoping that it won’t be a two-year wait like the gap between Season 2 and Season 3.
