One of the best regarded and performing contemporary Star Wars series is continuing soon - The Mandalorian season 3 just got a new poster and trailer to add to the hype. The Mandalorian has consistently been arguably the most popular and acclaimed piece of modern and on-going Star Wars content, in an era where hardline fans do their best to nitpick absolutely everything Disney does. Andor came close, but Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures are still the standard bearers. It makes sense then that the show has been renewed for a third season, making it the longest running live action Star Wars show. Premiering on Disney+ on the 1st of March, the hype for the new season is jumping to hyperspace, and Disney just gave it a fresh kick with a poster and trailer. While the trailer does pretty quickly and firmly establish that Din Djarin’s apparent excommunication from Mandalorian ranks by the Forgemaster is going to be fairly quickly resolved, it teases and lays groundwork for plenty of other major plot beats for viewers to look forward to. Some minor characters seen in previous episodes look to be making a return in possibly bigger roles, while a lot of action and exploration will also take place in between the heartfelt moments between Grogu and Din. Continuing the series’ proud tradition of video gamey progression upgrades, it seems Mando is getting an Astromech for his ship - possibly a sign of overcoming his distrust of droids. Notably absent is Gina Carano’s character, the former rebel soldier Cara Dune. Following the disgraced actress’ anti-Semitic remarks wherein she failed to differentiate between literal genocide and disagreeing with people online, Lucasfilm officially cut ties. It seems that instead of re-casting, the studio decided to can the character. While the premiere of The Mandalorian’s third season is nearest, Disney has a lot of Star Wars content lined up including the standalone Ahsoka series, as well as Acolyte which will present fans with a Sith-focused storyline set in a less explored era of the lore’s history. The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres March 1 on Disney+.
