As the publisher talked about in its latest earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick teased Take-Two’s goals for 2023. In particular, he singled out the fiscal year 2023 as a year of “net bookings growth” saying that it will see several “exciting releases” that will result in “record” level earnings for the publisher. Some fans believe that this is Strauss’ way of teasing that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released anytime between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. Further evidence lies in Zelnick’s recent interview with IGN when he said that all GTA games “has always done better than the one before.” Although he did try to downplay GTA 6’s significance by saying that it’s not “guaranteed” the publishing giant’s CEO did confirm that Take-Two’s goal is to make sure that the next GTA game sells better than GTA V. But, with 160 million units sold, GTA V has set a pretty high bar for GTA VI. Having said that, Rockstar doesn’t need to release GTA 6 in 2023 for Take-Two to enjoy a bountiful year. For example, we’ve heard rumors of a GTA IV remaster and Red Dead Redemption remake coming out next year. On top of this, Tom Henderson insists that Rockstar still has plans for the Bully series. Altogether these games would give Take-Two at least three chart-toppers that could potentially sell millions of units in a short time. Take-Two has proven that its IPs will continue to sell well despite a messy launch. GTA: The Trilogy is a good example of this. If Rockstar releases several “revivals” between July 2022 and June 2023, it’s easy to see why Zelnick is so confident that Take-Two will post record earnings in the next fiscal year. For now, all fans can do is wait for Rockstar to reveal more about Grand Theft Auto 6, which one insider believes could be coming later this year.
