It looks like we are adding a new title to the list of Sony titles with PC ports. According to a Steam DB entry, Returnal will be making its way to PC. The PC port was first showcased by developer Housemarque at GDC 2022. Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that the entry for Project Oregon had the word Returnal in its history. The entry “savefiles/0/path: Returnal/Steam/Saved/SaveGames” looks a lot like an update to the save location for the Steam version of the game. Inspecting the Steam DB record further, there are entries for Tower of Sisyphus and Atropos in the Localization Strings section. Atropos is the planet where the roguelike shooter is set in. Tower of Sisyphus is an endless mode within the game that features co-op multiplayer. While the entry confirms that Returnal is coming to PC, Sony still hasn’t formally announced the port yet. According to leaks, the PC port will take advantage of NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR similar to other Sony exclusives coming to the platform. The game will also reportedly have Steam Deck support when the PC port arrives. Returnal was easily one of last year’s most underrated titles. Critics and fans alike loved the game, but its punishing difficulty made it divisive. Nevertheless, the visuals, audio design and gameplay should fit best on the PC where roguelikes are usually found. WIth more than 500,000 copies sold on the PS5, Returnal might find similar if not better success on the PC as the first PS5-exclusive to make its way to desktops.
