According to CIG’s COO Carl Jones, Chris Roberts has his hands full. Jones explains that Roberts is setting up a new Manchester studio while expanding the team’s size to help speed up Star Citizen’s development. Jones gave a possible timeline of “one or two years more,” as to when Squadron 42 will release. But, since this is CIG we are talking about, we should take what Jones just said with a grain of salt. Star Citizen is synonymous with delays and unkept promises. It’s hard not to wonder if the game is ever going to be released at this point. As we might have already mentioned, Star Citizen has been in development for over a decade. After starting production in 2011, CIG formally announced Star Citizen in 2012. Since then, the game has raked in $400 million in crowdfunded investment, which makes it the most expensive video game ever made - and it’s not even out yet. But, if it’s any consolation, CIG hasn’t been shy about sharing all the progress that the studio has made with the game. Having said that, we’re still hoping that CIG at least releases Squadron 42 first. Like the multiplayer aspect, the single-player missions hold a ton of promise. Squadron 42 will reportedly include an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Henry Cavill, Mark Hamill, and Gary Oldman, among several others.
