As part of Sony’s increased marketing push for Across the Spider-Verse, it released a new image of Spider-Gwen swinging into action. However, keen-eyed observers will notice one particular detail about her new costume. Although Spider-Gwen will retain the majority of her costume for Across the Spider-Verse, her new look ditches the white stripes at the hip.
— Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (@SpiderVerse) January 2, 2023 You know things are getting serious when Sony looked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers: Endgame for inspiration for Across the Spider-Verse. Although we likely won’t see Thanos snap half the universe away or Iron Man blip everyone back to life, the film will see everyone working together to save the multiverse. But, instead of hundreds of heroes from the same continuity, Across the Spider-Verse will feature other dozens of Spider-Man variants. Speaking of, the film’s official trailer proves that things aren’t going to be straightforward as most of the other Spider-Man variants are chasing Miles Morales, for some reason. The film, which has since been split into two movies, will also reportedly have its fair share of non-children-friendly scenes. Ultimately, we wouldn’t be surprised if the film sets up Spider-Gwen as a deuteragonist as Sony prepares for the still-untitled female-led animated Spider-Man spin-off. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will swing into movie theaters on June 2 with Beyond the Spider-Verse following suit on March 29, 2024.
