Similar to previous outings, Volume 3 will consist of eight episodes and each one will have a separate cast, crew, setting, as well as animation style. However, what’s unique about the third volume is that it will come with a sequel. The hilarious trio of Episode 2 of Season 1, Three Robots, is coming back for more insanity in Volume 3. Series creator, Tim Miller, once said that Three Robots is a fan-favorite episode, along with The Witness and Zima Blue. Love, Death + Robots is a unique collection of thought-provoking animated shows that are just as enjoyable as they are food for thought. So far, the popular Netflix series has won two Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Short-Form Animated Program for “The Witness”, the third episode of the first season. Netflix stopped short of confirming which directors and creators are on board the new shorts, which is probably a good idea. One of the biggest draws of the first two volumes is that most viewers came in blind and it appears that the same thing will happen in the third volume. While it’s a bummer that we’re still getting “only” eight episodes for Volume 3, the next batch of distinct shorts should remain just as much of a spectacle as the ones that came before.
