The movie, which is based on Kōtarō Isaka’s Bullet Train novel, would have starred Lady Gaga as Maria Bettle. However, because of conflicting schedules with Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, the singer-turned-actress had to drop her role, with Sandra Bullock stepping as her replacement.
Has Bullet Train already started filming?
This latest information about Bullet Train comes from Collider, which was the first to report on Lady Gaga’s departure from Bullet Train. The Oscar Award winner was initially billed to join Pitt in Bullet Train, which is a movie about a group of assassins with different missions who are all aboard the same train. Because of the pandemic, news about the film’s progress has been slow. Now, we’ve learned that a fellow Oscar winner in Sandra Bullock has been recruited to replace Lady Gaga. Bullock will take on the role of Maria Beetle, Pitt’s handler in Bullet Train. It appears that Sony is already taking liberties from the source material. In the original novels, Maria Beetle was more of a supporting character that did not appear on the train. However, Sony is adamant to cast a major star to take on the role. Because of Gaga’s scheduling issues, the studio went with Bullock and put her in her first-ever big-screen movie with Pitt. Another deviation that the film adaptation will make from the Maria Beetle model is that it cast a female actress in The Kissing Booth’s Joey King to take on the role of The Prince. Here is the confirmed list of actors and actresses for Bullet Train, as well as their roles:
Brad Pitt as Ladybug Joey King as The Prince Sandra Bullock as Maria Beetle Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tangerine Andrew Koji Brian Tyree Henry Zazie Beetz Masi Oka Michael Shannon Logan Lerman Hiroyuki Sanada Karen Fukuhara Bad Bunny Pasha D. Lychnikoff Miraj Grbic
As for Lady Gaga, she’s traded a role in one movie with an ensemble cast for another, in House of Gucci. House of Gucci is expected to premiere on November 21 after it started filming earlier this year. It features a star-studded cast that includes Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, as well as other Oscar winners such as Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino. Bullet Train film isn’t expected to premiere until April 8, 2022. A trailer hasn’t been released yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony took advantage of the theatrical release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home later this year to drop the first trailer for Bullet Train.
