Apparently, Activision will air the first campaign trailer for Modern Warfare 2 “at an event when E3 was meant to be.” Judging by how E3 is usually scheduled in June, Activision’s upcoming shooter might be a part of the Xbox and Bethesda showcase on the 12th. But, if we’re lucky, we might get the trailer a few days earlier on June 9, which is when Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event will take place.
With Henderson and other sources pointing to June, Call of Duty fans better start circling their calendars. In addition to Modern Warfare 2’s first trailer, sources also claim that a second key reveal will take place in August. This time, Activision will shed some light on the game’s multiplayer aspect. Even without official confirmation, the June and August trailer dates line up with Activision’s usual schedule. Even if the publisher confirmed that Call of Duty will no longer follow the traditional annual release cycle, it appears that some things will never change. Of course, these things are not set in stone. We might see a slight shift in scheduling in the coming months. On top of Modern Warfare 2, fans are also looking forward to the official reveal of Warzone 2. Infinity Ward has taken point on both and Activision is expected to show off more of the latter before the year ends. Activision Blizzard is in desperate need of good news and the trailer for Modern Warfare 2 could do the trick. Ever since Infinity Ward confirmed the title for its upcoming turn at the wheels of the best-selling shooter franchise, fans have had high expectations. Some believe that Modern Warfare 2 could outdo all the other Call of Duty games before it, which is no small praise but it might also turn out to be prophetic. In other news, Activision continues to bleed money amidst controversies. The company’s latest earnings call discloses that Call of Duty: Warzone lost 50 million players. But, instead of addressing the real issue, the company is using Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Vanguard as the scapegoat.
