The field upgrade works flawlessly and is not considered to be “broken” or “too OP.” The issue here has more to do with the radius scaling than the field upgrade itself. Given the smaller size of the maps (Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep), when the field upgrade is placed, it covers most of the area on the minimap, as the scaling on the scrambler is in line with the bigger map, Caldera.
This was obviously a major issue and allowed players to abuse it. On July 13, 2022, Raven Software tweeted about releasing an update to reduce the radius of the jammer by 20% on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island. Despite the welcomed change, some still argue that the drop rate of the field upgrade should be reduced or completely removed from the game.
