However, some leakers have already gotten their hands on the game and started sharing previously unreleased images. Content creators and gaming sites have been publishing public-service-announcement to warn players that spoilers exist. According to Youtuber Austin John Plays, these leaks are legitimate and have been appearing mainly on Twitter. Thankfully, most content creators are refusing to use any of the leaked images of the upcoming game. Many of the leaked screenshots contain Spanish dialogue which indicates that the leak comes from a Spanish-speaking country. Checking on Twitter, the screenshots are also mainly leaked by Spanish accounts. The leaked content includes previously unknown Pokémon from the new game. The evolutions of some Pokémon have also been shared on social media. There may only be a few copies of the game in the wild ahead of its launch. Most of the screenshots seemingly come from just one or two sources. How the leakers got hold of the game has not yet been revealed. The Pokémon Company has had some major leaks for its games in the past. Nintendo cut ties with a Portuguese website when it was discovered that they were the source of the Pokémon Sword and Shield leaks. Last year, gamers were streaming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl ten days before its release. More recently, Pokemon Legends: Arceus was streamed on Twitch a week ahead of its launch. A build of the game was shared on piracy sites, leading to the leak. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet isn’t alone in having leaks weeks before release. Both God of War: Ragnarok and Sonic Frontiers had gameplay leaks before the games were released. Retailers also mistakenly shipped God of War: Ragnarok PS5 consoles instead of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II version. While it is unfortunate that these leaks happen, it is seemingly now part of gaming culture. Almost every major release title has had some sort of leak. If you are excited to play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it would be best to avoid Twitter and other social media sites that share leaked content for the next two weeks. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will officially be released on the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
