For years, the Persona series has either been exclusive to the PlayStation platform or was released to Sony’s best-selling consoles first. But, now, it appears that Atlus is finally ready to share the award-winning JRPG series to other consoles. We first found out about Persona’s non-PlayStation ventures earlier this month at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase. At the time, we weren’t quite sure if Persona was getting a Switch port as well, but now we know. Atlus was at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase to cheer up Switch owners who felt disappointed that Switch wasn’t part of the announcement a few weeks ago. With the confirmation, fans of the stylish role-playing games can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that the three classic JRPGs are headed to Nintendo’s best-selling hybrid console. According to Atlas, Persona 5 Royal will hit the Switch on the same day as its release on the Xbox and PC platforms on October 21. Afterward, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will follow suit next year. Technically, this isn’t Persona’s first time on the Switch. Atlas already brought over Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to the Switch before, but neither are the JRPGs that fans associate the franchise with. Also, the main character of Persona 5, Joker, appeared as a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Nintendo Switch will enjoy a smorgasbord of ports later this year. In addition to Persona 5, No Man’s Sky, Dying Light 2, and NieR: Automata are all coming to the Nintendo Switch. We’ve also received reports that Skyrim: Anniversary Edition and Metroid Prime are getting Switch ports as well. So, while Breath of the Wild 2 might not be around for the holiday season, it’s nice to know that Nintendo Switch owners will be eating well regardless.
