Fans are also looking forward to the next season of Overwatch as a new character will be introduced. Blizzard is also adding a new map for Season 2 of Overwatch 2. Details for the new map haven’t been released yet, but one player may have found that it has been referenced in the game. These signs can be easily seen if you know where to look. When visiting the train route signs in Midtown and Esperanca, there is a destination called “Atlantic Arcology.” The destination is not part of any previous Overwatch lore and many curious players have been wondering what it is. This was first reported by Twitter user @owgwadael and later shared on Reddit by user SonOfGarry.

— Gwadael 💙🏴‍☠️ (@owgwadael) October 5, 2022 Players have been assuming this is the new map for Season 2 of the team-based shooter. The speculation is that this area will be underwater just off the coast of Portugal somewhere in the Azores region. The Azores is a group of nine volcanic islands and is a popular tourist destination. The assumption is based on the travel time posted on the Esperanca train route sign. The opposite side of the Atlantic, Midtown, has a travel time of ten hours according to the train route. In comparison, Atlantic Arcology is just an hour and a half. Gamers assume that this new map will be an underwater dome structure in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. There is mention of the old Galapagos control point map back when Overwatch was called Project Titan. The Galapagos map is inside a dome-shaped structure and is found underwater. Players suspect that the devs of Overwatch may reuse the Galapagos map which never went into the final game. Or at least draw inspiration from this map when they build the Atlantic Arcology. This is, however, pure speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt. What we know for certain is that the new map will be related to the Tank Hero that will make its debut in Season 2. According to leaks, the new hero will be called Mauga. The character has been part of the Overwatch lore for some time now, appearing in short stories and comics. Mauga is also connected to the support hero Baptise. Furthermore, the new map might be a King of the Hill-type of map with links to Mauga as alluded to by Art Director Dion Rogers. We won’t know for certain what the new map is at this point as we are still several weeks away from Season 2. The new season will start on December 6, 2022, if the roadmap hasn’t changed.
