A little over a decade ago, journeyman Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze in two mildly successful movies in 2007 and 2012. Then, once Marvel regained the rights to the otherworldly hero, the character was introduced in Netflix’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and was played by Terminator: Dark Fate’s Gabriel Luna. Now, it appears that there’s a third actor, in Norman Reedus, that might don the fiery skull for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Is Norman Reedus going to be the MCU’s Ghost Rider?
Back in July, Reedus told ComicBook.com that he’d love to see his face “turn into a fire skull and whip a chain around.” But, this isn’t the only “evidence” that we have. Since then, fans have spotted Norman liking tweets from fans that he’d make an awesome Ghost Rider. He even shared fan art of the fiery hero on Instagram just as the rumors that Marvel Studios had already chosen their Ghost Rider actor started heating up. If this is true, then it wouldn’t be Reedus’ first go at a Marvel film. He starred as Scut in 2002’s Blade II and he also voiced Frank Castle, otherwise known as The Punisher, in 2013’s Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. Having said that, we probably won’t be seeing Reedus as Ghost Rider any time soon, if it is ever confirmed. The Walking Dead star isn’t done with zombies just yet. After The Walking Dead concludes in 2022, Reedus is going to reprise his role alongside Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier in a spin-off. If that does well, who knows how many more seasons Reedus will play Daryl? In addition to this, Daryl has also “confirmed” that he’s going to work again with Hideo Kojima on Death Stranding 2. In the meantime, Marvel fans already have a lot to look forward to in 2022. After No Way Home’s smashing success, audiences will only need to wait a few months for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to premiere on May 6, 2022.
