Confirmed last year, The Old Way will see Cage star as a retired gunslinger, Colton Briggs. After a life of crime, Briggs is living his life in peace alongside his wife and daughter. Unfortunately, his quiet life was disturbed after outlaws decide to murder his wife in cold blood. Briggs will now have to take up arms once again as he tracks down his wife’s murderers and take revenge. However, doing so is much easier said than done. After settling down, Briggs became a father to a young girl, who is portrayed by Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The descriptions of The Old Way suggest that the movie will tell a classic Western revenge story with a twist. But, just how exactly it’s going to switch up the formula is something that we’ll have to wait until The Old Way premieres to find out. Speaking of Cage’s Western debut, Saba Film’s acquisition of The Old Way’s right comes just months after it also grabbed the distribution rights for Butcher’s Crossing. Both The Old Way and Butcher’s Crossing represent Cage’s Western debut with Cage shooting both films back to back last year. On top of Butcher’s Crossing and The Old Way, Cage is expected to star in at least two other films this year. So far, only The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has a release date. The upcoming comedy film, which stars Nicolas Cage as a parodied version of himself, features an ensemble cast including the likes of Pedro Pascal, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tiffany Hadish, among others. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is set to premiere in theaters on April 22, 2022.
