What’s new in the latest Dying Light 2 trailer?
One of Dying Light’s greatest strengths was its parkour gameplay. This unique means of traversing Harran was what drew most players to the game. Although it also made the zombies trivial in later portions of Dying Light, the game remained fun as you could literally grapple your way from one skyscraper to another and not have to land on the ground for what feels like forever. With that said, it appears that Dying Light 2 is going to double down on what made the first Dying Light game so great. However, this time around, the game will give you even more choices on how you want to approach the combat. According to Dying Light 2’s lead designer, Tymon Smektala, choosing is part of the fun in Dying Light 2 as you can either take advantage of the game’s improved parkour mechanics or whack your enemies to death. Speaking of parkour, the sequel promises to use an “advanced, realistic movement system.” This suggests that Dying Light 2 will make use of parkour movement even more. It might even play a key role in the game’s combat system as Aiden learns how to survive in a world where everyone around him is infected.
What’s next for Dying Light 2?
On top of the game’s combat and parkour system, Techland also took the time to showcase the several enemy types that players will encounter in the game and how you’ll need to change your approach depending on who you are fighting against. Not only that, but it appears that humans are just as dangerous in Dying Light 2 as the other infected. As the game is set in the last bastion of humanity, like-minded humans have formed their own factions in an attempt to survive. It’s an interesting concept, for sure. Although the first Dying Light game had Kyle Crane contend against other humans, it wasn’t to this extent. In the sequel, the lines of who’s good and who’s bad have become blurred as survival takes precedence above all else. Finally, Techland also took the time to reveal more of its Techland GG community hub, where fans of the Polish developer’s games can congregate and meet, at Gamescom 2021. As for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Techland confirmed earlier this year that the sequel is set for a December 7 release.
