Nearly half a year later and it appears that Microsoft is finally ready to launch Xbox Cloud Gaming on the Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a huge win for Xbox One owners
According to Microsoft, Xbox Cloud Gaming is already available on the Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The feature will be available immediately in as many as 25 regions, but if you don’t have access to it yet, you might want to wait for a while. Microsoft has promised that everyone in supported markets will enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming “over the coming weeks.” So, if it’s not yet available for you now, just stay patient and it should come soon enough. Having said that, Xbox Cloud Gaming is a huge win for everyone involved. It’s like an evolved version of Xbox Game Pass where you can try and demo games without downloading them. For Xbox Series S/X owners, this is a godsend. The measly storage space of Microsoft’s latest consoles makes streaming a viable option. Another potential application of Xbox Cloud Gaming is multiplayer games. If, for example, you don’t have a game installed and a friend invites you to play it with them, you can still play together via streaming. Of course, while everyone wins here, it’s the Xbox One owners that have the most to gain. Xbox Cloud Gaming allows owners of the last-gen console to enjoy next-gen exclusive titles like The Medium without having to fork out for an upgrade. More importantly, Microsoft upgraded the Xbox Cloud Gaming servers so all games would stream in Xbox Series X quality. This is especially useful in light of the recent stock shortage issues that the Xbox Series S/X are currently facing around the world. Unfortunately, not all titles are available on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but Microsoft is working on it. You’ll know if you can stream a game by checking out the cloud icon.
