When is the release date of Momoa and Bautista’s buddy cop movie?
Earlier this year, Bautista openly lobbied to do a buddy cop film with Momoa. A few days later, Momoa confirmed that the movie is happening. Now, it appears that the film has found a studio in MGM, who reportedly won the rights after winning a four-way bidding war. The report comes courtesy of Deadline, saying that Momoa and Bautista pitched the idea “all over town this week.” Deadline claims that MGM is expected to close the deal “by morning” with Bautista effectively confirming this news on Twitter by saying “Two months and 11 days. Wait time acceptable!”

However, with two of the biggest (quite literally) action stars in Hollywood as its leading men and Jonathan Tropper as the film’s writer, we don’t think that the project will have a hard time finding a director. It is believed that the movie will start filming sometime in 2023, so don’t expect the film to premiere until late 2023 if not 2024. As we’ve already mentioned, Momoa and Bautista have worked together already in the past. However, this will mark the first big movie that the two will be cast in lead roles together. The two most recently appeared in Dune: Part One, but they did not share any scenes.
