Perhaps this is why Lucasfilm is bringing back the Taken actor for another go as his iconic character. Unfortunately, Neeson isn’t reprising his former role in live-action form. Instead, Neeson will lend his voice to the Tales of the Jedi, an animated anthology series made up of short stories exploring the backgrounds of several fan-favorite characters like Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Count Dooku. According to Lucasfilm, the six-episode series will be split into two halves - the first half will star Ahsoka and explore her life from her childhood to his time as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice during the Clone Wars and her life after the infamous Order 66. Meanwhile, the latter half will center around Count Dooku’s early years before turning to the dark side. Neeson will appear in Count Dooku’s part of the series with some episodes even featuring his son, Michael, as the voice of a younger Qui-Gon Jinn. It’s definitely interesting that Neeson is coming back as Qui-Gon Jinn. Earlier this year, there were rumors that Neeson might appear as the maverick Jedi Master in Obi-Wan Kenobi. In April, Neeson also fueled speculations by voicing his interest. Although it would have been better to see Qui-Gon Jinn in action again, we all know that’s not happening. Of course, we might be wrong. After all, some are theorizing that the figure inside the Bacta Tank inside the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer might be Obi-Wan’s deceased mentor. Not to mention, Ewan McGregor teased that Obi-Wan Kenobi will tie into the events of Star Wars Jedi. At the end of the day, this is all just speculation. Regardless, what’s important is that there’s a lot of Star Wars coming later this year. In addition to the animated show, fans can look forward to the premiere of the first season of Andor on August 31.
