If we believe the claims of what’s believed to be the burner account of a prominent industry figure, this is about to end soon as Square Enix is reportedly set to announce a remaster of 2007’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Before we proceed, SPOILER ALERT! Crisis Core details the events of Zack Fair’s life before the start of Final Fantasy 7 as well as its remake. However, the ending of the INTERmission DLC might have “confirmed” what gamers thought of all along: that the remake isn’t a simple retelling of the original timeline but the diverging of two separate ones. Whereas the original timeline sees Zack give up his life to save Cloud, there is another timeline where both of them survive the ambush. It is believed that Zack’s “return” will have serious implications in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, which still does not have a release date. If Zack is going to be a huge part of Final Fantasy 7’s future, Square Enix will want to introduce him to broader audiences, which is where the Crisis Core remaster would come in.
— The Snitch (@insider_wtf) June 15, 2022 As you can see from the Twitter post above, The Snitch uploaded a screenshot from the extended ending of the FF7 Remake that features Zack Fair alongside a caption that shows a blue, green, red, and black box above it. This is a clear sign that whatever The Snitch is talking about is coming out on all major platforms. Of course, this is all speculation, but the good thing here is that we don’t have to wait for a long time for confirmation. According to Square Enix, it will hold a Final Fantasy VII showcase later today, June 16, so you’ll want to set your alarms for 3:00 PDT / 6:00 PM EDT / 11:00 PM BST.
