However, rumors of a Silent Hill revival have gotten stronger in recent years. Now, we might have just received our biggest piece of news yet. The director of the first Silent Hill movie, Christophe Gans, revealed in a JEUXACTU interview that Konami is planning a massive franchise reboot. Gans added that he’s working on a new Silent Hill film as Konami is looking to revive the series following Capcom’s recent string of successes with Resident Evil. Gans explains that “the franchise is going to be relaunched in terms of video games,” which is in line with what we have been hearing from news outlets for the past few years. Unfortunately, unlike its contemporaries such as Capcom and Square Enix, Konami has not made any significant announcements in recent memory. The closest thing to an official statement came last year after the publisher skipped E3 2021. If Gans is correct, Silent Hill will play a huge role in Konami’s ongoing revival of several defunct franchises. Hopefully, Konami will break its silence soon. The Japanese gaming company has close ties with Sony, so we might see its upcoming slate of games at a future State of Play showcase. In the meantime, survival horror fans have a lot going for them. In particular, Resident Evil is going through its most successful period yet with several games and updates currently in development and in the pipeline. Case in point, next-gen versions of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7, came out on June 14. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village is getting its first piece of post-launch content in October. Finally, the long-rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake is true and it’s coming in March 2023. With so much going on for Resident Evil right now, you can’t blame Konami for wanting a slice of the horrifying pie.
