The Multiverse Saga will introduce a new villain that will rival the Mad Titan in terms of magnitude. Kang the Conqueror will make his big screen debut in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The villain played, by Jonathan Majors, made his first appearance in the MCU in the season finale for Loki. Ant-Man 3 director Peyton Reed weighed in on the MCU’s next big bad villain. The director said that Kang’s arrival will have a “profound impact” on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I think it has a profound impact on the MCU,” Reed shared with Empire Magazine. “Jeff Loveness, who wrote this movie, is writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty as well, so there’s been a lot of discussion about the impact that this appearance of Kang the Conqueror makes. There are big things in store.” Kang in the new Ant-Man movie will not be as subdued as the one that appeared in Loki. “Kang The Conqueror in our movie is a very different character,” Reed shared. “He’s someone who has dominion over time, and he’s a warrior and a strategist.” Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, and his family will be in for a fight with Kang. “That’s interesting to me: to take the tiniest, and in some people’s minds weakest, Avenger, and put them up against this absolute force of nature,” the director explains. It will be interesting to see how Kang’s appearance in the Quantum realm will have such an apparently big impact on the universe. In contrast, Thanos and his posse were an intergalactic empire built to conquer the cosmos. Thanos himself is an imposing figure and a very capable fighter, managing to hold his own against most of the Avengers. Fans are looking forward to seeing how much bigger of a threat Kang is to the universe compared to Josh Brolin’s Thanos. And we are all curious how events within the Quantum realm would spill over to the rest of the MCU. It is still unclear when Kang would appear next in the MCU after Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The film will be the opening act of Phase 5 of the MCU. We hopefully would see more than a cameo of Kang in one or two more MCU films before the Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars arrive at the tail end of Phase 6. We can speculate that Kang will be part of the Fantastic Four movie and perhaps The Marvels. Kang the Conquerors’ true identity is Nathaniel Richards, a 31st-century descendant of Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. Rumors surrounding the Fantastic Four movie include the involvement of the Silver Surfer. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania premieres in theaters on February 17, 2023.
