However it wasn’t until recently, when cross-platform play became more prevalent, that this started to come to light more often. In particular, more and more internet personalities and streamers are starting to voice their opinions regarding the issue. A more recent example of this is YouTuber Jack Mason, otherwise known as JackFrags.

JackFrags Makes Suggestions on How to Level Playing Field

You’d expect that a comparison between PC and consoles in Call of Duty: Warzone would revolve around the existing cheats in the game, but you’d be wrong. In his recent video, shown above, JackFrags explains that cross-play causes two issues that give players on the PC an unfair advantage. He then turns his attention towards, not exploits, but rather, the filters and FOV slider. With the first issue, JackFrags talks about how PC players are free to change up the visuals of the game using NVIDIA Filters. He cites a scenario where a PC player can make certain darker corners of Verdansk look brighter all with the press of a button. This supposedly then allows that player to see other players hiding in the dark or under staircases. This shouldn’t be the case. These ambush spots are an important part of Call of Duty: Warzone. PC players shouldn’t be able to spot well-hidden players with ease. As a result, JackFrags is pushing for the developers to fix this. He suggests that they find a way to remove the ability to use filters in Call of Duty: Warzone in the name of fairness. Speaking of fairness, the other issue that JackFrags pointed out is with FOV sliders. He talks about how and why this feature doesn’t exist for console players in Warzone. He then goes on to talk about how this game-changing setting gives PC players yet another unfair advantage over console players. In the video, he uses a rather vivid example. In the said scenario, he shows how players on the PC can see a player that would have been completely off the screen if they were playing on a console. Considering how much a small boost in peripheral vision via the FOV slider can make such a huge difference, it makes sense for JackFrags to point out why this isn’t available on consoles for players to use. What is most surprising here is that the feature actually exists in other Call of Duty games. In fact, players can adjust their FOV on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As such, it only makes sense for the developers to work on making it available for Call of Duty: Warzone on consoles as well. Hopefully, JackFrags’ vivid examples and suggestions do not fall on deaf ears. This is especially given how crucial cross-play has become in the success of Call of Duty: Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available on 5 different platforms. This includes the PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
