Is Insomniac working on Spider-Man 2?
Insomniac Games has stuck to a pretty strict regiment since 2018. In fact, except for 2017, Insomniac Games has released at least one game each year since 2011. This means that the studio is almost always up to something. However, following it’s acquisition by Sony, Insomniac has focused its attention towards big AAA titles, including the highly successful Marvel’s Spider-Man. The 2018 title, as well as its 2020 standalone expansion, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are widely considered two of the best superhero games ever released. Now, it looks like Insomniac is working to add a third entry to the series.
— thisiserfan ❼ (@ErfanManavi) July 13, 2021 Nadji Jeter, who provided the mocap work for Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, recently posted an image of him online wearing mocap gear. It didn’t take long for him to then take down the photo, however eagle-eyed observers were much faster than Nadji was at deleting, and so, we have evidence that something is brewing. Having said that, there is no confirmation that Insomniac is working on Marvel’s Spider-Man right now. Nadji’s work on the Spider-Man games could have landed him a job with another studio. Insomniac might also be working on a different game entirely. Still, for Nadji to delete a photo like that seems odd, to say the least. Ironically enough, the “accidental leak” is also in line with what Tom Holland, the actor for MCU’s Spider-Man, is known for doing, so maybe the inability to hide secrets from fans is something that all Spider-Man actors have in common. If Spider-Man 2 is indeed in development, it shouldn’t come off as a big surprise. Insomniac has probably been working on the game for years already. Earlier this year, we found out that Insomniac Games’ Art Director was working on an unannounced project. Although he later edited his Linkedin profile to “correct” this and changed it to say “an announced project”, it all still seems very fishy. Ultimately, what we’re trying to say here is that we wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ends up releasing in 2022. Until then, fans can keep themselves busy with completing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man. If you’ve already done that, then there’s no need to worry. Sony has a bevy of exclusives for you to look forward to and that will release later this year. This includes Deathloop, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, and Horizon: Forbidden West. The bad news is that with such a busy slate of upcoming exclusives, Sony might decide to delay Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for 2023. At the moment, Ghostwire: Tokyo, God of War: Ragnarok, and Gran Turismo 7 have all been delayed to 2022.
