Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward delivered a full frontal attack at Call of Duty Next, as it dropped multiple info bombs about all of the upcoming Call of Duty games. Although the main highlight is easily Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, many fans want to see Warzone 2.0 in action. The publisher confirmed the sequel to the hit free-to-play battle royale shooter from 2020 earlier this year and this will be the first time we’ll see a trailer of the game. It was featured prominently alongside Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer. The best way to describe both is “over-the-top action”. The Smash Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” was the perfect backdrop music for all of the mayhem that’s going on in the trailer. Specifically, the Warzone 2 side of things sees a soldier jump out of a plane and head straight into the thick of things. We’re then given a glimpse of jeeps, helicopters, and boats, all being available for players to ride on and use to wage vehicular warfare against each other. But, don’t worry. The trailer assured fans there’ll be plenty of ways to counter vehicles in Warzone 2, giving audiences access to everything from an EMP knife to an explosive drone, among others. The livestream also confirmed the name of the Warzone 2 map, Al Mazrah, and its 18 points of interest. It also appears that Warzone 2 will adopt Modern Warfare 2’s movement and water mechanics. If nothing else, this should guarantee that players will have no problems swithcing in between Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. Activision Blizzard promised that this was just the tip of the iceberg. We can look forward to more “intel drops” in the weeks ahead as we inch closer to the release date of Warzone 2 on November 16. Unfortunately, Activision Blizzard didn’t quite confirm if it will change the name of Warzone once Warzone 2 is out. But, they did reiterate that Warzone will continue to get content updates.
