This is how Forever Entertainment described their new project on the PlayStation Store page: This is the sequel to their remake collaborations with Panzer Dragoon, being the first entry, released in March 2020. The graphical enhancements should immediately catch the eye, giving the updated version of Sega’s masterpiece a facelift fitting to modern-day gaming standards. THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is a remade version of the game that was originally introduced in arcades. A classic arcade rail-shooter receives a whole new entourage and gameplay changes to suit modern gaming standards. Features:
Well known arcade classic with modern graphics and controls, including gyro aiming True to the original gameplay Local 2-player multiplayer Multiple endings Photomode Achievements Armory with unlockable weapons Hordes of the undead monstrosities in a new game mode Gallery with encountered enemies and bosses
The big news here is the support for local two-player co-op mode which comes on top of new audio features, leaderboards, and achievements, an updated controls system, a photo mode and gallery, which are all overshadowed by a new Horde mode that increases the on-screen enemy count. If you enjoy a thrilling experience this port is fitting for you. The remake is coming as a PS5 port nearly a year after the game was released on the Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4. If you already owned that version on the previous PlayStation console, the PS5 version will be available as a free upgrade. If not, you can get it for just £9.99 until the 18th of January, as it’s currently on a 50% pre-sale discount over on the PlayStation store. Despite mixed reception to the House of the Dead: Remake on other platforms, the PS5 is probably the best suited console to handle the performance and control scheme issues they experienced. Making this remake available on the PS5 might give it some more exposure but it definitely has its work cut out to challenge the best-selling video games of 2022. With a GTA Trilogy rumored to be coming to Steam and Epic Games a day before this remake is available, it’s safe to say gamers are eating good this week.
