Meanwhile, Netflix and HBO Max have the most nominations for streaming platforms in the TV series category with 14 each. Comedy horror TV show, Wednesday, is one of Netflix’s nominated series. Wednesday set a debut record for the streaming platform and it’s on track to beat every other show except for Squid Game in terms of streaming hours. Netflix’s other nominees include the award-winning crime drama series, Ozark, as well as the historical drama, The Crown. On the other hand, HBO Max got nominations for its black comedy-drama The White Lotus, its fantasy drama House of the Dragon, and its comedy-drama Hacks. Netflix also received nine nominations in the film category for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Pinocchio, and All Quiet on the Western Front, among others. Another streaming platform, Hulu, garnered a host of nominations for its TV series with 10 in total. Selena Gomez, who starred in the platform’s show “Only Murders in the Building” is a beneficiary as she received her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the show. It also bears mentioning that the Lucasfilm series, Star Wars: Andor, also received a nomination that recognizes the lead actor’s performance. Best Picture – Drama sees the nomination of several of this year’s heavyweights in the film industry. Two of the best-known of these films are the James Cameron-directed film Avatar: The Way of Water and the Tom Cruise-led film Top Gun: Maverick. The category also sees the nomination of Focus Features’ Tár, Universal Pictures’ semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans, and the Warner Bros.’ biographical film Elvis. In the international category, the Indian-Telugu film titled RRR is one of the films everybody can look forward to by then. The epic action-drama film received two nominations for the awards, including the awards for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language and Best Original Song. The 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air on January 10, 2023, on Peacock and NBC. Rothaniel Jerrod Carmichael, the popular stand-up comedian and actor responsible for the HBO special, Love at the Store, will host the event.
