The other one is Death Stranding 2, which Norman Reedus has already teased last year and earlier this year. Elle Fanning is believed to be a part of the said game. Neither have been fully revealed so far, but it appears Kojima is getting ready to confirm Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards.
Before anything else, let’s address the elephant in the room. People don’t need rumors to theorize Kojima’s involvement in any event by Geoff Keighley. The two are good friends and Kojima has often used Geoff Keighley’s events to reveal his latest project in the past. Case in point, Kojima attended last year’s Summer Games Fest to reveal Death Stranding: Director’s Cut. With that said, Kojima sent his hardcore fans into a frenzy with his latest tweet. The caption “Start a new journey” is an all-too-on-the-nose tease for Death Stranding 2 as one of the three strange symbols is the umbrella used by Fragile from Death Stranding, Léa Seydoux’s character. If that’s not enough to convince you, the official Twitter account of The Game Awards also replied to Kojima’s tweet.
— The Game Awards (@thegameawards) December 2, 2022 So, we guess we can add Death Stranding 2 to the list of games that will be revealed and/or showcased on December 8. Death Stranding is a Kojima game. Fresh off a nasty divorce from Konami, Kojima gave fans what’s easily the best walking simulator on the planet. Death Stranding is a critically-acclaimed game that sold extremely well. It’s not necessarily a replacement for Metal Gear, which Kojima spearheaded for Konami for decades, but it’s proof that games can follow a different formula and still succeed. The game has since sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, all but guaranteeing Kojima won’t have to rely on the goodwill of fans to give his studio a home. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Diablo 4, Tekken 8, and FF16 are all expected to be at The Game Awards on December 8.
