The comedy-drama anthology series created by Mike White debuted last July to critical acclaim and high ratings. At the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, the first season became the most-awarded series, winning ten awards in the limited series categories. The first season was set in a tropical resort in Hawaii and followed the exploits of various guests as well as its employees over the span of a week. Season 2, which premiered on October 30, 2022, is set in Sicily, Italy, with an entirely new cast, except for Jennifer Coolidge, who reprises her role as Tanya McQuoid. It comes as no surprise that The White Lotus has been renewed for a third season after HBO reported the first episode of the second season premiered to 7.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched series of the week. Creator Mike White made a statement on the series being renewed for a third season, saying, “There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team. I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus.” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama and Series and Films, affirmed Mike White’s statement, saying: The cast of Season 2 includes F. Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, Jonathan Gries, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, and Laura Dern, with the latter in a voice-acting role. The last episode of White Lotus Season 2 will premiere on December 11 on HBO.
