Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost has reportedly been removed from the Thunderbolts. The antihero was slated to be part of the elite team for the movie. Giant Freakin Robot reports that John-Kamen will no longer be starring in Marvel’s Thunderbolts for an undisclosed reason. John-Kamen also left her role in the Red Sonja reboot. It makes two high-profile films that are missing an actor. Ghost made her first live-action debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp as one of the antagonists of the movie. Her real identity is Ava Starr, the daughter of Elihas Starr, a former colleague of Hank Pym. Her father died after an attempt to open a portal to the Quantum Realm failed. The accident gave Ava her powers but it also came with chronic pain. S.H.I.E.L.D. later recruited her as an assassin and gave her a suit to control her powers. Janet van Dyne helped stabilize Ava’s powers at the end of the movie. Interestingly, Ghost is part of the promotion for the Marvel film and also appears in the artwork for Thunderbolts. Disney is either recasting the role or it might make changes to the promotional material going forward. Another rumor suggests that Ghost is being moved to another project that is related to her S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra backstory. Twitter user and leaker @thewatcher_2099 tweeted the new information. “Heard she was being shifted to another project that explores her connection to SHIELD and Hydra more. Probably something Secret,” the insider reveals.

The Thunderbolts team
The Thunderbolts roster is made up of The Winter Soldier aka Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Harrison Ford plays the titular character General Theodore “Thunderbolt” Ross and will lead the team. There are rumors that Sadie Sink will be added to the team as Songbird along with Ryan Gosling as Sentry. The two may be John-Kamen’s replacement for the movie. Kevin Feige teased that The Winter Soldier is the “most stable” member of the Thunderbolts team. “It tells you a lot about the team when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them,” Feige said. We’ll know more about the Thunderbolts when it hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
