According to critics and audiences alike, Godfall lacked any meaningful endgame content whatsoever. It also didn’t help that the game had mediocre loot. Because of this, Godfall quickly fell out of favor among its audience. However, fast forward to Day 1 of E3 2021, and it looks like Gearbox and Counterplayer aren’t ready to give on Godfall yet.
Godfall Expansion and PS4 Release are Coming in August
The brand-new online multiplayer title was among the headliners of Gearbox Software’s E3 2021 showcase. According to Counterplay Games, Godfall will be headed to the PlayStation 4, confirming the PEGI rating leak earlier in April. In addition to this, Godfall will be receiving its first-ever post-launch expansion, Fire & Darkness, as well as a free content update, Lightbringer. Both are scheduled to release on August 10, 2021, along with the PlayStation 4 version of Godfall. For a more extensive look at what’s coming to Godfall, be sure to check out the trailer below. For those who already own a PlayStation 5, the PS5 upgrade of Godfall will be available for free whenever you buy the PlayStation 4 version. While a lot of gamers gave up on Godfall almost immediately after it launched, Counterplay Games has continued supporting its looter-slasher. Just a couple of months ago, a new Godfall update, the Primal Update, adding new features and cosmetics to Godfall. The arrival of a new expansion and update is sure to make Godfall even more of a fun game than it was when it was first released. Speaking of fun, the latest Godfall announcement also included details about matchmaking finally coming to Godfall. In fact, Counterplay is expected to launch a beta period for Godfall soon. Not only that, but according to Dick Heyne, who serves as the Senior Technical Producer of Godfall, the upcoming PS4 version and matchmaking for the game are merely “the tip of the iceberg”. With that said, it’s safe to say that Counterplay wants to continue supporting Godfall. Here’s to hoping that the future updates are enough to reel gamers back in to try out Godfall. If nothing else, Counterplay and Gearbox could partner with Sony to make Godfall a free title as part of the August 2021 PlayStation Plus lineup.
