Instead of releasing on April 29 as initially planned, Ubisoft will now release the Wrath of the Druids DLC on May 13, so that the developers have a bit more time to “deliver a more refined experience”.
Ubisoft Pushes Back AC Valhalla DLC Release Date
⛰️Wrath of the Druids will now release on May 13?We’re working on an article to provide transparency and share insights on our dev process Thanks for your patience. Keep an eye on our social channels for future news! pic.twitter.com/aQUPR8cWNV — Assassin’s Creed (@assassinscreed) April 14, 2021 Ubisoft originally announced that the upcoming expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would release on April 29, 2021. Unfortunately, the development team needed more time to perfect the experience in the studio, as per their announcement. Speaking of, the studio also promised that they are working on an article to “provide transparency and share insights” on how the development process of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has gone so far. Released in 2020, Valhalla is the twelfth mainline installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise by Ubisoft. It is also the first title to release following Ubisoft’s decision to lengthen the development cycle of each new installment. As a result, Valhalla became the first Assassin’s Creed game to not follow the usual annual cycle. It came two years after its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Unfortunately, despite Ubisoft’s decision to give its studios more time to work on each game, Valhalla has already seen its fair share of delays. Much of it is out of the developer’s hands. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on and force people to work at home. Then again, Valhalla was released with several game-breaking bugs. The said issues persist to this day even after multiple updates and patches. Despite the ongoing problems, Valhalla remains undoubtedly a popular title. In fact, Valhalla sold more copies during the week of its release compared to previous Assassin’s Creed titles. The PC version also made history as the most successful Ubisoft published game to launch on the PC. With that said, Wrath of the Druids would have boosted Valhalla’s popularity. It will serve as the first big expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and introduce a new land for players to pillage and conquer in Ireland. It would also have seen players conquer forts once again and become smugglers as they try to gain the favor of Ireland’s Gaelic Kings. After this, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will take players to Paris with the aptly titled, The Siege of Paris DLC. However, it remains uncertain if the game’s second DLC is still on track to release in Summer 2021. Speaking of DLCs, numerous leaks and rumors are suggesting that Ubisoft is working on a third unannounced expansion for Valhalla. Most of the details remain sketchy as of the moment. So far, the only lead we have to go on is from a French YouTuber. He claims that the rumored DLC is Valhalla’s biggest yet and it will arrive sometime in late 2021 or early 2022.
