This is because most games are rated before they are announced and/or released. Case in point, the ESRB just leaked info on a new collection of games that includes classic titles such as The Jungle Book, Aladdin, and The Lion King.
When is the Disney Classic Games Collection release date?
Unfortunately, the ESRB rating does not contain information on the release date of the Disney Classic Games Collection. The Lion King, Aladdin, and The Jungle Book were all released for the Super Nintendo and SEGA Mega Drive decades ago. Coincidentally, Disney released live-action adaptations based on these three Disney films in recent years. Judging from the most recent Disney compilation, 2019’s Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King, fans shouldn’t expect any significant content added. However, for older fans, the chance to replay these classic titles on modern platforms is more than enough. The improved graphics and other quality of life adjustments are mere bonuses. At the moment, Disney has yet to issue an official announcement confirming the release of the Disney Classic Games Collection. Here’s hoping that Disney decides to release even more ports of its classic video games on modern platforms. We believe games like 1994’s Mickey Mania for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, as well as 1990’s Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for the Sega Genesis, will all find their places among modern audiences.
