Campbell’s image shows one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters, a female Deadite, staring through a peephole with a creepy grin on her face. The hole she is peeping through has blood splattered on it.
— Bruce Campbell (@GroovyBruce) October 31, 2022 At the moment, Warner Bros. Pictures has only released Evil Dead Rise’s synopsis. It reads: The entertainment behemoth has not released a trailer for the film even though its release date draws nearer. Evil Dead Rise will star Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis. Lee Cronin serves as both the writer and director of the film. Alongside Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Robert Tapert serve as executive producers. The first film in the series The Evil Dead was written and directed by Sam Raimi. The film was released in 1981 to both critical and commercial success and is widely considered one of the best horror films of all time. Following its release, The Evil Dead gained a cult following and spawned a media franchise that includes three other films, a television series, video games, and comic books. Campbell, Raimi, and Tapert have been working on the series since the first film’s release in 1981. For that film and each of its sequels and remakes, Tapert served as the producer while Campbell starred as the protagonist Ash Williams. However, Campbell won’t reprise his role in the upcoming film as, according to reports, the film will tell a new story with new characters. By the way, Raimi chose Lee Cronin as the man to succeed him as writer and director on Evil Dead Rise. The film was initially planned for a direct release on HBO Max but that is no longer the case to the delight of many fans. Also, the film was rated R by the Motion Picture Association for featuring “strong bloody horror violence and gore, and some language.” In other words, the film will be just as gory and horror-filled as its predecessors. Evil Dead Rise will debut in theaters on April 21, 2023.
