According to a Bandai Namco earnings call, Elden Ring’s current sales numbers stand at 13.4 million units, making it the best-selling game by FromSoftware with room to spare. Before its release, FromSoftware’s top seller was 2016’s Dark Souls 3, which towered over the studio’s other brutally difficult games at 10 million combined units sold. It’s safe to say that Elden Ring has got that beat and it’s still not done. Just to put into context just how well Elden Ring has sold, the total now sits nearly half of the combined sales of the entire Dark Souls franchise, even when you include Demon’s Souls. This is a monumental achievement that should go a long way towards Bandai’s plans to expand on Elden Ring. Having said that, Elden Ring could still end up outselling all four Dark Souls games. Keep in mind that it’s only been out for just over two months. With a next-gen console shortage going on and a GPU crisis, FromSoftware’s latest title will only sell more units as stock and availability improve. Not to mention, Elden Ring is all but guaranteed to win Game of the Year now that Bethesda has delayed both Redfall and Starfield. With the summer season coming up and the holidays following suit, the future is bright for Elden Ring.
