Most fans might remember Meat Loaf’s acting dalliance with his role in 1999’s Fight Club, where he portrayed Robert “Big Bob” Paulson. However, it appears that audiences weren’t the only ones touched by Meat Loaf’s performance in the cult classic film. As Edward Norton put so succinctly in his tribute, his image with Big Bob in the film is one of the few that he keeps. The Oscar nominee adds that the photo makes him smile every time he looks at it.

— Edward Norton (@EdwardNorton) January 21, 2022 What is perhaps the most touching about Norton’s tribute to Meat Loaf is that he spoke about who the man was behind the actor and rock star. Even if stars spend months working with each other, it takes a special kind of bond to develop an off-screen friendship and get to know someone. Norton and Meat Loaf shared a genuine connection while working on the black comedy. Meat Loaf’s moments in Fight Club were relatively few. The violence-filled film had very few calm and serene scenes. But, in those few moments, it was Meat Loaf’s Paulson that stood out. His portrayal of the lovable giant was what helped the moments with the support groups leave a good impression on audiences. Even though Meat Loaf had appeared in several films since and before, it was Fight Club that allowed him to explore his range and talent. Speaking of Fight Club, it’s hard to think that the film wasn’t successful at launch. Critics and audiences were divided with what to make of the film when it was first available. It wasn’t until audiences got a chance to watch Fight Club at home that it took off. As for Meat Loaf, he went on to star and appear in several films and TV shows after Fight Club. This is a bonus when you consider that he remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time after a long and storied career as a singer.
