He also explained why Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment, the title’s publisher and developer, have, so far, released little information on the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order despite the release date being only five months away. According to Grubb, the sequel’s date remains unchanged as things have proceeded smoothly so far and there is no reason to delay. On the podcast, Grubb stated, “It’s still on track for that March release date, as we’ve been saying this whole time, as EA has been saying in its earnings reports to investors this entire time that the big partner game is coming well. That’s always been Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.” Grubb further revealed that EA has a plan and will start talking about the game in December in the run-into its release. According to the journalist, EA always planned for a short promotional window for the game; hence, the dearth of information on the game. Given the fact that Star Wars Jedi is an established series that is almost certain to sell, it makes sense that EA is looking to market the game within a shorter window. The playbook has already been used to great success by other popular IPs like God of War Ragnarök and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. As a result, EA’s decision is almost guaranteed to succeed. If that happens, it could signal a new trend in the gaming industry where shorter and high-quality marketing will be adopted for established IPs over long, extended marketing. By the way, it is important to note that any news on the title that is not from EA should be taken with a grain of salt. The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor story takes place five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In Jedi: Survivor, Kestis must stay ahead of the Empire’s search for him as he continues to feel the burden of being one of the few remaining Jedi in the galaxy. By the way, there are rumors that Disney wants Lucasfilm to release a new Star Wars game at least every six months. While this might be bad news for EA, which had exclusive rights to all Star Wars games, it is good news for fans of the franchise.
