Some of the ratings for this year are no longer a surprise as EA suffered a massive leak for the game. A few weeks ago, some players were able to access the full version of FIFA 23 and subsequently leaked a ton of information including player ratings. Well, EA has now officially released the top 23 player ratings for this year’s game. Kylian Mbappe, FIFA 23’s cover athlete, is one of the five players receiving a rating of 91, which is the highest for the game. The other four players receiving the highest player rating of 91 are Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema, and Kevin De Bruyne. Benzema is ranked number one in the player ratings for FIFA 23.
Ronaldo and Messi
FIFA 23 will be the first time in over a decade that Ronaldo and Messi are not in the top 3 of the player ratings. Lionel Messi is still one of the highest-rated players but has fallen 4 places as compared to his FIFA 22 player ranking. He was the top player in last year’s game. Now, Messi is barely hanging on to a top 5 place in the rankings as his game has begun to fade. Christiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, had a greater tumble in the player rankings, falling to eighth place after being third in FIFA 22. One of the highest-rated players in over a decade, a player rating of 90 is the lowest that Ronaldo has received since FIFA 11.
Karim Benzema
While Ronaldo falls from the top of the rankings, his former teammate at Real Madrid Karim Benzema is now the top player in FIFA 23. Benzema gained +2 points to his overall player rating which catapulted him to the top. Benzema had a great campaign last year leading Real Madrid to the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles. At 34 years old, Benzema is the oldest player to score a hat trick in the Champions League and the first since Ronaldo to score a hat trick in back-to-back knockout matches.
Manchester City
FIFA 23 also released a list of the top 25 players in the Premier League. Manchester City is the team with the most players in the Top 25 at nine led by Kevin De Bruyne. This cements Manchester City’s position as the top team in the Premier League. Manchester City won its second English Premier League title last season and reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. The great season for Man City reflects in the overall player ratings of their stars. Liverpool is second with six players in the top 23. The team is led by Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk with both players receiving a player rating of 90. A total of 11 players from the Premier League are on FIFA 23’s top 23 players list. In other FIFA news, FIFA 23 will be the last FIFA title under EA as the contract between the game developer and the football governing body expires. FIFA is currently looking for a different studio to helm the development of the next FIFA branded game.
