Dead Space is coming out at the end of the month and the newest trailer may be our last look before the game is released. The trailer lasts almost two minutes and focuses on the plot and gameplay of the upcoming survival horror game. The launch trailer actually leaked a day early on Steam where players were able to view an unlisted version of the teaser ahead of its scheduled release. It is unclear how the video leaked on the platform but EA may have uploaded the video in advance and inadvertently forgot to make it private. Based on the launch trailer, the remake looks to be a faithful recreation of the 2008 original. This new footage showcases the reworked cinematics and improved graphics. EA has reportedly added some additional audio lines for protagonist Isaac Clarke. According to the game’s official description, “Isaac Clarke is an everyman engineer on a mission to repair a vast mining ship, the USG Ishimura, only to discover something has gone horribly wrong. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and Isaac’s beloved partner, Nicole, is lost somewhere on board.” “Now alone and armed with only his engineering tools and skills, Isaac races to find Nicole as the nightmarish mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura unravels around him. Trapped with hostile creatures called Necromorphs, Isaac faces a battle for survival, not only against the escalating terrors of the ship but against his own crumbling sanity.” The Dead Space remake is powered by EA’s proprietary Frostbite engine. The same engine was used to develop Star Wars: Squadrons and the single-player campaign for Star Wars Battlefront II among other major EA releases in recent years. EA and Motive have said that the remake will retain the plot of the original game. The studio has reworked the character models and the game environment. EA will be taking advantage of the newer hardware to remove loading screens from the game in what it calls an “uninterrupted sequence shot”. The original voice actors have returned to reprise their roles in the remake. The team at EA has said that it wants to stay true to the atmosphere of the original. The musical score from the original game has been reused with additional elements being added where it necessary. Dead Space is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on January 27, 2023.
