Fast forward to today and Dr. Dre has been linked to a Grand Theft Auto game again. The only problem? We just don’t know which one.
Snoop Dogg outs Dr. Dre’s next music project
According to Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre is making new music right now. He then added that some of it is “connected to the game that’s coming out”, referring to Grand Theft Auto. What’s weird is that Snoop Dogg didn’t clarify his statement. Which game is the iconic rapper talking about? Is it Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition? Or is it the next-gen version of GTA V? What about the standalone release of GTA Online? Perhaps it is for the long-rumored GTA VI? If we’re being technical, only GTA 6 is new and it’s still unannounced. Not to mention, sources claim that GTA VI is not coming out until 2025. One prevailing theory is that Snoop Dogg might have just misinterpreted his information. Dr. Dre might not necessarily be making music for a new game. Instead, Dr. Dre could be working on something for Grand Theft Auto Online. We can believe this because it was teased a couple of weeks back. Another explanation is that Dr. Dre is back in the studio to work on new music for the re-release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Perhaps, because of licensing issues, Rockstar lost the rights to some of the game’s tracks, so it hired Dr. Dre to make new ones. The two least likely scenarios here are that Snoop Dogg could be wrong or that Dr. Dre is working on music for a secret Grand Theft Auto game (like GTA 6). The latter isn’t exactly impossible. Snoop Dogg might have just forgotten that he wasn’t supposed to talk about Dr. Dre’s latest project yet, which might explain the lack of clarity. Either way, there are several GTA projects in development right now, so we might as well just watch out for which one Dr. Dre is working on.
