When a studio announces that its game has gone gold, it’s a sure sign that the game will release on time. We say “sign” because there is always outliers. In the case of Arkane Studios’ Deathloop, it’s scheduled to launch on September 1, and because Deathloop has now gone gold, there is no stopping the PS5-exclusive from releasing on time.
It looks like we’re finally getting our hands on Deathloop
The COVID-19 pandemic affected hundreds of industries around the globe. The video game industry was not spared. Even if the nature of making video games allowed sp,e studios to shift to Work From Home (WFH) schemes, the pandemic still had a huge impact on the development of big games. One of those that felt its effects the most was Deathloop. Arkane Studios’ latest title was first revealed at E3 2019. A year later, Sony confirmed at its first-ever PlayStation 5 event that Deathloop was a timed exclusive for the then-unreleased next-gen console. At the time, Arkane confirmed that the game was going to release in late 2020. Then, in August 2020, the studio pushed the game’s release date back to Q2 2021. They cited the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the game’s development. It took a couple more delays for Arkane Studios to finally settle on September 14 as the date now that the game has gone gold. Arkane Studios announced the good news via the game’s official Twitter account, signaling that September 14 will indeed be when players will finally get their hands on Deathloop.
