In light of all that has happened, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley just confirmed that the company is not going to be at The Game Awards 2021 on December 9.

— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) December 4, 2021 Following several weeks of criticism and backlash, Geoff Keighley has announced that Activision Blizzard will not be at The Game Awards 2021. However, audiences remain unimpressed by Keighley because of how long it took to make the announcement and how Keighley refused to criticize Activision Blizzard. Audiences pointed out how Keighley didn’t hesitate to criticize Konami years ago when the company refused to let Hideo Kojima attend the event, but appeared to mince his words for Activision Blizzard. Surprisingly enough, Activision Blizzard’s president, Rob Kostich, remains on The Game Awards advisory board. Activision Blizzard’s presence at The Game Awards 2021 could have allowed the publisher to drop a new trailer for an upcoming game or two. We’re sure fans would have loved to see more footage of the delayed Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, among others. Instead, the company will have to stay at home or else risk further condemnation. At the moment, several Activision-published games are nominated for different categories. Call of Duty: Warzone, for example, is nominated for Best Ongoing Game with the Call of Duty franchise nominated for Best Esports game. With that said, the list of companies trying to distance themselves from Activision Blizzard continues to pile up. A few weeks ago, there were reports that PlayStation head Jim Ryan and Xbox chief Phil Spencer had each sent word to their respective employees to essentially remind them that they will not tolerate sexual harassment and gender discrimination in any way. In other Activision news, Toys for Bob was recently spotted hiring for a game that isn’t Call of Duty. This job listing comes just weeks after reports surfaced that Activision is thinking about changing its annual Call of Duty release schedule.
