Jericho’s donation comes after the Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Buffalo Bills on January 2 for Monday Night Football. However, what was supposed to be a festive occasion quickly turned sour after Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Bills, suffered a serious injury. Hamlin was going for a relatively routine play and tackled Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins. But, after standing up, Hamlin immediately fell to the ground as medics rushed to the field to administer CPR and take him to a hospital. The Bills later announced that Hamlin had a cardiac arrest due to a freak accident and is currently listed in critical condition. The NFL immediately suspended the game as the sporting world gathered in support for the 24-year-old from the Pittsburgh area. Hamlin’s Chasin M’s Foundation, which he originally set up to fund a toy drive for children in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, was flooded with donations in the hours and days after the incident. As of the time of writing, the GoFundMe has received more than $6 million and the number just keeps on growing. At the moment, Chris Jericho is no longer the top donator at $10,000. Tom Brady ($10,000), Russell & Ciara Wilson ($10,000), Matthew Stafford ($12,000), Robert Kraft and The New England Patriots ($18,003), and Jason Hanold ($20,000) now top the list. Jericho is part of the list of playable characters for Yuke’s first non-WWE wrestling sim, AEW Fight Forever.
