Bungie Senior Lead Designer Tom Farnsworth revealed on Twitter that Bungie has evolved the way it develops games and does business after releasing 25+ Destiny titles. Farnsworth also shared that the studio is working on several projects with Sony’s blessing, saying: Bungie has previously said that it plans to release a new IP before 2025 and this was before Sony bought the studio, which was finalized last July. And with the support of Sony we are working on a number of unannounced projects too. Come join us! Also, obviously I’m missing a medal, my kids played with the shield awhile back and I’m still looking for it, lol. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said that the acquisition will beef up Sony’s live game service offerings and help make the company a multiplatform business. “We believe it will be a catalyst to enhance our live game services capabilities,” Yoshida said of the deal to purchase Bungie. “Our acquisition of Bungie also represents a major step forward in becoming more multiplatform.” As we’ve already mentioned, Sony has plans to launch ten live service titles before the end of its fiscal year on March 2026. Sony Interactive President Jim Ryan also revealed plans to make half of its annual releases to be on PC and mobile by 2025. Bungie is reportedly developing a new Destiny title for mobile in collaboration with Chinese gaming company NetEase. Bungie has received a $100 million fund from NetEase to work on the mobile game and receive a minority stake in the studio. There are also reports that Bungie is working on reviving the Marathon series. Tom Farnsworth and Bungie will be looking to add another medal to the shield with the release of Lightfall on February 28.
