What’s in the June 2021 Diablo 4 quarterly update?
In the latest quarterly update for Diablo 4, the award-winning studio shared new information about the upcoming action RPG title. The game’s development team over at Blizzard mentioned using a physically-based rendering pipeline for Diablo 4. The team explained that doing so will allow Diablo 4 to generate light that reacts properly to materials in the game ,such as the character’s skin and flesh, as well as leather, and metal. Blizzard also confirmed that Diablo 4 will benefit from the studio using high-quality assets. A good example of this is using in-engine assets to create the character reveal trailer for the Rogue class. Feel free to check it out below to see what we are talking about. Of course, in terms of graphics, the pre-rendered cinematics look far better. However, when compared to Diablo 3, Diablo 4 is looking a lot better. Speaking of looking better, the June 2021 quarterly update for Diablo 4 also gave fans a glimpse of new characters designs for the game. There’s a more detailed look at Lilith and the Sorceress character class. Last, but definitely not least, Blizzard confirmed that numerous character customization options will be available in Diablo 4. Players won’t just be playing as a pre-rendered character anymore. The in-game character creator will let players choose how their character looks, the hairstyle, jewelry, makeup, tattoos, and body paint, as well as so much more. As a bonus, Blizzard dropped a video (shown below) featuring an all-new monster, designed specifically for Diablo 4, called the Blood Bishop. We already know that Blizzard isn’t going to release Diablo 4 in 2021. However, the quarterly updates for Diablo 4 are a great way to keep audiences and fans in the loop about what’s going on in the game. So far, it’s been confirmed that Diablo 4 will be available on the Xbox One, PC, and the PlayStation 4 at launch. This suggests that it will be available via backwards compatibility on next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series S/X and PS5 as well. It is currently unknown if it will also be available on the Nintendo Switch at launch. If all this news about Diablo 4 is giving you a Diablo-sized scratch, Diablo 2: Resurrected is expected to release in September 2021.
