The anime-inspired cel-shaded art style quickly drew a comparison to one of the most popular MMOs, Genshin Impact. While not entirely a Genshin Impact clone, Blue Protocol does have a lot of similarities. It will be fascinating to see a newcomer take on a fan-favorite title.
What we know so far about Blue Protocol
In Blue Protocol, players embark on a “heroic journey through Regnas, a world teetering on the brink of destruction after millennia of conflict and technology overuse.” The story takes place 2,000 years in the future where a giant beast has awakened. This behemoth threatens the world and it will be up to the player to stop it. The player awakens in Regnas with no memories and is in the center of an age-old conflict. Through the campaign, the player will discover his/her identity and purpose while gaining new allies. Blue Protocol will have five classes that one can choose from. The Blade Warden is your traditional sword and shield class while the Twin Striker dual-wields axes and swords. The Keen Strider is similar to an archer, the Spell Weaver is the mage class and the Foe Breaker uses a heavy hammer to deal heavy damage. There will be full character customization in Blue Protocol. Players can equip armor, clothes, and accessories to help them stand out. The characters can also have mounts such as horses and wolves. The combat system looks fast and fluid and players have the option to customize skills to fit their playstyle. Players can equip up to four skills that can be modified using skill points. There is also an emphasis on crafting in Blue Protocol. Gamers can craft weapons and armor that fit their style. Blue Protocol will have a four-player co-op mode similar to Genshin Impact. However, there will also be 30-player boss raids to take on the massive beasts shown in the trailer. If the final game is anything like the trailer, it’s going to be a sure hit among fans of anime-inspired video games. The combat looks smooth and rewarding. Hopefully, the game gives us a worthy alternative to Genshin Impact. Blue Protocol will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in late 2023.
